file1881334416087[1]Balance – Just as life on earth needs sun and rain, mountains and valleys, and changing seasons, each of us needs a balance of ups and downs in our lives.

It is tempting to want to live in only love and light. And there is also a pull to succumb to our darkest fears and insecurities. But we can’t honestly and effectively live in only one side while ignoring the other. Both have value and depth, and that is why we are here – to experience all of it.

krajina[1]There are times when I feel incredibly alive, happy, grateful, radiant, and joyful. I feel filled with love and light, and connected to all of life. And there is a time and place to savor and feel the depth of that incredible love, joy, exuberance, gratitude, and connection.

And there are times when I feel lost, sad, depressed, anxious, out of it, disoriented, and disconnected. I feel alone, down on myself, not worthy, ugly, and not good enough. I feel like I am making a mess of everything.

_DSC1857[1]And those feelings are important, too – they show me where to look and what needs to be addressed. There is a need and a place for us to ache and hurt, to cry, to face our inner demons and our dark places. It is our soul’s way of saying that there is a need to explore, reflect, learn, grow, and work through various fears, issues, and lessons.

And it is in those darkest places, where we are most uncomfortable and most afraid to be, where the door opens to our greatest breakdown, breakthrough, growth, and transformation. The key is facing it and seeing, hearing, feeling, and knowing what is truly there. Allow it to fill you – and find the source. Watch your perceptions, thoughts, filters, and emotions. Really see it all. Love it and honor it. And allow for insights, shifts, and changes.

DSCF0145[1]ALL of it is to be honored and embraced. There is polarity in our lives (and in this world) for a reason. And I believe that we need to fully live and experience each part of it as part of our existence here on earth.

Our experience of all of life – the difficulties, pain, struggle, and loss, as well as the joy, happiness, compassion, and love – is what we are here to do. All of it together creates wholeness.

SONY DSCOur essence, consciousness, beingness, presence, love, and life itself, is expressing itself through us, experiencing life as us. Don’t shortchange the experience. We are here to live fully and passionately, as part of our glorious dance here on earth.

A rich, full life comes from honoring the balance, embracing all sides of our life here, and experiencing it all.

You know what I love about this post in addition to the subject matter? Is how you arranged the photos so that they seemed to go from balance, to shadow, to flow of the ocean to the full of life and energy of waves. Great post–thank you!

Renata, thank you so much for your comment! I didn’t even realize the progression of the images did that, I was simply picking them to go with the subject of each paragraph. So thank you for that – I really appreciate what you see. Thanks for your insight and unique perspective – I always love hearing from you! ❤

I love what you said: “don’t shortchange yourself” with the experience of the bad with the good. So many people run from the bad feelings and that truly is shortchanging the soul the opportunity to grow because it is in those darkest places that the most light is likely to be illuminated. Really nice post!
