B – Beauty

ad02Beauty – I’ve heard it said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that beauty is only skin deep.

For me, beauty is so much more than any of that, and it has little to do with how we look.

B.file491277168503[1]To me, everyone is beautiful. Beauty for me is something that emanates from our inner being. The physical body is simply a vehicle that allows a deeper energy to flow out and radiate to the world.

We project what is inside us, our inner true self. To me, beauty is confidence, honesty, integrity. It is authenticity, real-ness, the power of knowing who you are. It is honoring your own inner Being.

It is gentleness and kindness. It is compassion and love. It is humor and quirkiness. It is the joy of life.

B.file2621303685132[2]When I look at someone, I see beyond the body. I see and feel the soul, the essence – and that is always beautiful.

What do you see when you look at people?

  1. Lynn, I agree with you! Looking past the exterior takes practice but I’ve found it is so worth it. I’ve met so many interesting people in my lifetime. Sometimes I have to close my eyes and just listen.

  2. I’m leaving another reply because I think I have my blog site address incorrect. Learning new things about blogging every single day!

I love this. I love that whole attitude of understanding that beauty is so much more than hair, makeup and fashion! And honoring the true beauty within. And you Lynn are the perfect expression of true beauty! I have come to know you as someone I’d like to call friend. You are the essence of everything you’ve described, my friend. I’m so glad to have met you. And did I mention: sometimes you crack me up! Love ya

I really enjoyed this. I get that sense every time I read something from you or hear your voice—you just exude and acceptance of whomever is at the other end of your attention and focus. You have this gorgeous ability to make people feel interesting and beautiful and for that I thank you. What do I see when I look at people? In addition to beauty, I also see their stories which fascinate me. I get curious–who? why? Thank you Lynn, for always sharing your heart, your views, and your kindness at the very least. ❤

It’s a nice sentiment, and a worthwhile approach, although I suspect that it essentially renders the concept of beauty meaningless.

Thank you for your comment. Actually, it’s just a different perspective, and I think the view on beauty that I have presented here adds meaning and depth to it. You could still talk about physical beauty – but that is what I would find superficial and meaningless. I’d much rather look beyond that.

It’s been a long time since I fell for outer looks. I try teaching my girls exactly what you’ve said. I give them examples in their every day lives. If more people started feeling this way, this world may actually start healing itself. You are beautiful Lynn 🙂

    • Lynn Miclea says:

Thank you, Bavani – what a wonderful thing to teach your girls, I love it! Yes, this world would change if people changed their thinking about beauty. And you are beautiful too, Bavani. ❤
