A – Abracadabra

ad01Abracadabra – When I was little, I used to help my father, an amateur magician, with magic tricks. It was fun and thrilling going to shows with him, being his assistant, and pretending to be surprised at all the magic.

Now as an adult, I find that the trick is to see the magic all around me. I have discovered that I am more awed by life itself than by any magic trick.  It sometimes even seems that our very life force uses sleight-of-hand and distraction to create illusions. Life transcends logic and thought – it is pure wonder and real magic.

A.DSCN4301f[1]To me, magic is in the power of our strength, our wisdom, and our tenderness. It is in our ability to build complex structures, tiny intricate computers, and also save a kitten from a burning building. It is in the depth of our feelings – compassion, grief, and love. It is in the variety of life that flourishes on this planet, and the life force that shines and radiates from every living being. It is in the way everything meshes, weaves, interplays, synchronizes, and breathes.

A.file2981255110294[1]The magic is the entire universe, everything around us, and what all our senses receive. It is in a flower, a blade of grass, and a pebble.  It is in the ocean breeze, a painting, and a crying violin.  It is in our laughter, our breath, and our gut-wrenching sobs.

And the even greater magic is in the endless, imponderable, unknowable depth within ourselves.

A.IMG_0031[1]The true magic is in existence, beingness, and consciousness.

Life itself is magic – and the ultimate illusion is that this is all there is.

Abracadabra – may you find magic in all your moments.

I just love the line, “Life itself is magic – and the ultimate illusion is that this is all there is.” You summed it up so perfectly.

Yes, yes, yes – I have been struggling to describe what I think of magic. You nailed it! It is all around us and usually found in the tiniest, most unsuspecting moments. Great start to A to Z. I’ll see you tomorrow, and will be printing your A post to read again and again.
